Introducing the LIVE Trust

Established by the UK live music industry and acting for the UK live music industry, the LIVE Trust will deliver funding where it is needed most to help all in our sector thrive.  Taking coordinated action, the LIVE Trust replicates LIVE’s commitment to bringing all sides of the UK live music sector together to work in concert for the benefit of all.

With trustees drawn from across music, the LIVE Trust will have, as its initial focus, support for our grassroots music sector – from venues and artists to festivals and promoters.  The twin cost of production and cost of living crises continue to squeeze this vital part of the ecosystem.  The LIVE Trust will work to support those who are keeping venues open, festivals trading, artists touring and promoters promoting.  The object of the LIVE Trust is to promote public access to, appreciation of and engagement with live music by:

(1) facilitating public access to live music through the provision of support to community-based music venues and festivals;

(2) supporting the composition and performance of new music through the provision of training and other support to people in the early stages of their careers as musicians, their teams and crew; and

(3) helping people to develop sustainable careers in the live music sector.

Keeping live music in control

The impetus for the LIVE Trust came from the increasing pressures in UK live music and the associated interest from politicians and policymakers.  Our initial focus on supporting grassroots music is the correct priority today. By supporting the LIVE trust, our industry gets to decide how money is raised, how much needs to be raised and where that money should go.

Avoiding duplication, maximising value

As with everything LIVE does, the LIVE Trust’s central philosophy will be to act for the good of our sector as a whole, supporting existing schemes where they are working well and coordinating work across schemes to deliver the biggest impact for our spend.
