LIVE Talks: Menstruation and Menstrual Health

Last week’s LIVE Talks represented a step forward towards a culture where menstruation, and the way it can affect life in the workplace, is more openly acknowledged.

Presented by Henpicked: Menopause in the Workplace, ‘Menstruation and Menstrual Health in the Music Industry’ covered tricky symptoms, stigma and support in the workplace. Joined by panellists Estella Adeyeri (bassist in the band Big Joanie), Lisa Higgins (DJ and Menstrual Health Activist at Red Rebel Collective), Gaby Cartwright (Head of Partnerships, LIVE & Tour Manager)  and Kelly Wood (National Organiser for Live, Theatre and Music Writers at The Musicians Union) who shared their wealth of knowledge and personal experience with the group about how being a female who menstruates in the music industry can sometimes be daunting, embarrassing, exhausting, painful and much more. They also discussed ways in which the industry can support people who menstruate better, whether that’s in the office,at a venue, festival on or the road.

For anyone unable to make it, the video is now available to watch back via our website: https://livemusic.biz/live-talks/You can also download the menstruation information pack here.
